South Korea's Yeongcheon City bundles housing and childcare to retain young families
South KoreaEast AsiaOn the globe
The South Korean city of Yeongcheon is rolling out 15 new and expanded measures across childbirth and childcare, welfare, housing, culture and health, including public rental-housing rent subsidies for young people and newlyweds aimed at cutting their housing costs.
The 'life-oriented' package is a place-based response to demographic decline and youth out-migration, bundling housing, childcare and culture into a single local offer — a model relevant to UK towns trying to retain and attract young residents.
