Poland: cities revolt over a proposed residential property tax
PolandCentral EuropeOn the globe
At the Union of Polish Cities conference, city leaders demanded fresh consultations on a Left-sponsored bill creating a quasi-cadastral tax on third-and-subsequent residential properties. Separately, a Rzeszów citizens' committee is pushing its city council to tax developer- and fund-held empty flats ("dead apartments") at commercial rates.
Poland is running the empty-homes/multiple-property tax debate the UK has had via council tax premiums — but with cities resisting a national scheme rather than demanding one.
